‘Me and You are Global Citizens’ is the Erasmus+ youth mobility project of Mirsal and Young Lebanese for Peace & Development Group (YLDP). As a part of the project, a group of young people from Finland and Lebanon participated in a study trip in Lebanon in May. The objective of the initiative is to build partnerships between youth from different backgrounds and support youth participation in thinking of global issues.
Upon arrival, FIME researcher Samuli Lähteenaho introduced the institute to the group and answered questions about ongoing research initiatives.
To get the discussion going, FIME invited Ph.D. researcher Joan Chaker from Harvard University to give the group a lecture under the title ‘Research as a Problem-Solving Tool: The Lebanese Crisis as a Case‘.
Finally, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Beirut Aki Kauppinen gave a presentation about the Embassy and discussed some goals and ideas with the group.
The Erasmus+ -project continues in both Finland and Lebanon, and the Lebanese group is planning a visit to Finland in near future. FIME would like to warmly thank everyone who participated in the day!
