Lähi-itä NYT -blog

The Finnish Institute in the Middle East publishes two blog series and podcasts on the Lähi-itä NYT website. In the blog series, experts and those who live or visit the Middle East bring the Middle East, its cultures, phenomena and events vividly to the readers.

Lähi-itä NYT -blog

Lähi-itä NYT (Middle East NOW) is an expert blog of the Finnish Institute in the Middle East, whose blogposts analyse, clarify and comment on various current phenomena in the Middle East. The multi-voiced platform falls in the middle between news reporting and analytical science. The executive editor in charge of the blog is professor Hannu Juusola from the University of Helsinki, and the authors are experts in their fields. The writings, opinions, and thoughts in the blogposts always represent each author’s own views. The blogposts are published mostly in Finnish.

Paikan päältä -blog

Paikan päältä (On site) is a blog series where Finns living and visiting the Middle East and experts specialising in the region write about their experiences and observations about the cultures, customs and societies of the Middle East. The topics of the articles vary from popular to political and offer readers a versatile picture of everyday life in the region behind the news headlines. The blogposts are published mostly in Finnish.
