Research opportunities within the project “Dwelling with Crisis: Home at Spaces of Chronic Violence” (HOMCRI)

Exciting news for MENA studies in Finland: The Senior Research Fellow Mikko Joronen from Tampere Institute of Advanced Studies has been granted the ERC Consolidator Grant funding for the five-year project (2023-2028) Dwelling with Crisis: Home at Spaces of Chronic Violence (HOMCRI). There are now 3 postdoc and 2 PhD positions open to apply (all positions are for 3 years). 

The HOMCRI project explores incapacitating material, affective, and political conditions of home-making and in everyday dwelling in spaces of economic collapse, infrastructural shortage, protracted state/settler violence and/or war-torn environments. It focuses on three regions: West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon. The aim is to explore ways of making home in spaces constantly exposed to affective disruptions, political incapacitations, and material negations. It aims to develop novel methodological and conceptual ways for thinking the negative politics of materiality, affect and dwelling/home.
