Apply for the EDUFI -internship at FIME

FIME is looking for a university intern to Beirut for autumn 2026 through the Finnish National Board of Education’s EDUFI application.

An internship at FIME offers an interesting perspective on the work of a research institute in the Middle East. The intern will support the institute’s operations by assisting with a diverse set of tasks including: active participation in organizing the institute’s events and courses, and in the practical implementation of the institute’s communications. In terms of communications, the institute’s website and social media channels (Instagram, Facebook) in particular are part of the intern’s focus areas. In addition, finding writers for Paikan päältä -blog, curating and maintaining the digital photo archive are among the intern’s duties. The intern can also perform research assistant tasks. The intern will be given diverse set of tasks that are quite demanding.

Fluency in Finnish and English languages is required.

The application period is open 24.2.-10.3.2026. More information can be found on the Finnish National Board of Education’s website.

Greetings from Venla, the institute’s current intern

The beginning of my internship has flown by. Right in the first week, I got to participate in a symposium organized by FIME, among others. I have also been involved in organizing the Badaro Talks lecture series, and there are still many lectures to come. In the field of communications, I have been able to work on newsletters, websites, and social media. I have also found time to work on my master’s thesis, and through FIME, I have made valuable contacts who have helped me progress with my thesis.

There is plenty to see and do in Beirut in my free time. I have visited museums, cinemas, and admired the Corniche, the coastal promenade. There are many cafés near the office, and on weekends there is also a lively nightlife. I have also had the opportunity to see the countryside outside Beirut: snowshoeing in the cedar forest and skiing in the mountains. My internship and life in Beirut have exceeded my expectations so far. I highly recommend applying for an internship in the fall.
