Abstract:
This Badaro Talk will explore the Houthis’ long-term political project through the dual lens of domestic consolidation and regional alignment. It will highlight key formative moments, strategic shifts, and the movement’s evolving strengths and vulnerabilities, examining how their regional alliances have shaped their ability to navigate internal challenges and maintain dominance.
Bio:
Yasmeen Al-Eryani is Executive Director for Knowledge Production at the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies, overseeing multi-thematic research on peacebuilding in Yemen. She is a PhD candidate at the Tampere Peace Research Institute, focusing on Yemen’s mediation landscape, and consults regionally on PeaceTech to support inclusive dialogue in conflict zones. She holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Helsinki and a B.A. in Government Studies from Georgetown University.
