Organisation

The Finnish Institute in the Middle East is supported by the Foundation of the Finnish Institute in the Middle East based in Helsinki, Finland. The Foundation was founded in 1994 by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the University of Helsinki, the University of Joensuu, Åbo Akademi University, the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran, Orthodox and Catholic Churches together with a number of NGOs and private citizens. The Institute is funded mainly by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, foundations supporting research and culture, associations and private philanthropists.
